All older music of ‘covers’ style:

what, me angry?

Substantially less hated than the TSA (that recently started a fucking blog, with humor no less!), local brownstone band Professor Murder seems nevertheless to be buying into paranoid theories about their incidental relationship to the SoCa scene. We at TMYLM are never ones to shy away from controversies, and since we’d rather devote our love to Professor Murder instead of blog whipping boys the NYPD, we’ll go ahead and post a little remix that just came our way… And to prove that PM may or may not be so late on the bandwagon its like local positivist philolsopher gone wrong, compare it to the old Dutch Hex which kicked major fucking ass.

Professor Murder - Dutch Hex (Max Pask Murdub Mix) removed by request of someone

Goodbye, Brooklyn, how you doing?

Some of us, increasingly more of us, are off to [un]faraway vacations for a few weeks, and at the risk of emitting too much like a military experiment gone awry we wanted to direct a big fucking thanks to all the transumers, brand butlers, New York police, judeo-christian moralists, dive-bar-killers, Fort Greene expatriate grups and piece-of-shit ex-girlfriends that made this year such a precious one. Here’s some nostalgia for ya.

Jay Z & Lil Wayne - Hello Brooklyn (The Knocks Remix)
Carlos Moura - Sou

Tellmeyouloveme reader (and lover of all things red) Girltron sends us a few ditties: a backbeat-heavy, foot-stomping jam by French Kicks, a grrrrl-groups rager with a choo-choo-train bassline, and a brass-heavy, drunken he-diva version of Toxic, featuring the one and only Dirt McGirt (cuz dirt don’t hurt). Thassalot of hyphens!

French Kicks - Knee High
The What Four - I’m Gonna Destroy That Boy
Toxic - Mark Ronson (feat. ODB & Tigger)

all that is solid melts into air

Monday, November 26th, 2007

it occurs to you as the nights get darker and the air gets colder that the bike ride becomes less tenable. you think of trains more during this time. it isn’t as easy to stand still outside.

Gal Costa - Vapor Barato
Kelly Hogan - Papa Was A Rodeo (Magnetic Fields Cover)

trip the light fantastico

The Racionais MC’s do a nice turn on a trip-hop standard, if such a thing can be said to exist. The original sample is from Isaac Hayes, “Ike’s Rap III,” in case you care to care.

Racionais MC’s - Jorge da Capadacia
