SO… its really is becoming desperate out there. While the country burns, Obama fiddles with the knobs on his well-tuned neoliberal joke machine.  All is revealed for what it is, the cannibals roaming around - don’t they know they need to come home?  It may be raining, but there’s a rainbow above you.

Spring beckons and TMYLM follows eagerly, abandoning multiday posting for whoa-whoa-whoa multistage-hidden identity assistant-magician tricks, school, family and friends experiences. Yes, the buds are out on the tree and you know what that calls for: some of the tweest shit you’ve heard in a while. So decalcify your espresso machine and listen to our songs (if you can avoid the various sex scandals)

Plants and Animals - Bye Bye Bye
White Rabbits - While We Go Dancing
Marianne Faithfull - Working Class Hero

lay-zine-ness

Listen, we at TMYLM are quite lazy, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t appreciate when others are not lazy.  So (So) it comes as no surprise that we had to link to a double-plus-ungood unlazy link.  Its a page of covers of Leonard Cohen’s incredible Hallelujah.

So it’s getting nicer around, and although Odilio Gonzales is Puerto Rican (and recorded this album there), can it be that he’s in Prospect Park, having ridden his fixie with his sweetheart in order to charm her with his knowledge of obscure-yet-respected Park Slope restaurants? Or is more likely that, after a heated and passionate debate about the merits of the DC vs NYC subways, they’re about to go into performing some great hits united?

Either way, his music is the perfect way to pass a warm, cold, and then warm late February day.

Feminists don’t worry, the above image is meant ironically… And besides, who doesn’t like eating a lot on days of dreaded wintry mixes, snow pouring into rain pouring into cold? Who doesn’t like a little whiskey and gospel on such days? WHO!?

Whether SAD means Seasonal Affective Disorder or Social Anxiety Disorder or just plain old sad sad, we’d be glad to inject some melatonin, xanax, or other endorphin stimulants into your bloodstream. But since we’re all virtual, and shit, here’s some music:

Bat for Lashes - What’s a Girl to Do?

Dri - Free Tonight

Juvelen - Summer Spring

Really, aforementioned TSA “blog” is a fucking riot. Check out today’s enlightened propag response to customers’ complaint about the liquid bans on airplanes. Simultaneously claiming that the preparation of these bombs is very much more complex than tossing together several bottles-worth of formula and lighting it up AND that even creative ways to smuggle liquids in are less effective because, eventually, they still have to mix it right and get it into the right container, Kip “Chip” “Chipz” Hawley nevertheless hilariously defends the TSA’s mindboggingly stupid laws on liquid bans. Read the comments though, they’re a real treat, ranging from the delicious:

How can the UK “plot” be considered a “very serious” one when the would-be conspirators had not procured tickets, passports (in some cases), and DID NOT HAVE A WORKABLE BINARY LIQUID EXPLOSIVE? The ban on liquids is precisely as sensible and necessary as is a ban on manticores or cyclopses; we know it, you know it, and it is a large part of why Americans do not take TSA at all seriously, and view airport screening as an unfunny joke.

to the unfunniest mess, worthy of the fucks over at Family Security Matters:

It is amazing to me that Pre-9/ll this manner of comments are still being made. This type of attitude is the very reason the government did nothing to thwart the threat because the public would be angry because of the “inconvenience” it would have caused them. Finally, the government does something preemptive to stop a serious threat and the public groans and complains. I guess America only wants more blood shed before they’ll be willing to put up with minor inconveniences when they fly.

Anyway, here’s an awesome, Phil-Spector-produced weird Leonard Cohen song also having to do not only with your little carry-on but also liquids, and it does it in ringing, vaudevillian style.

Substantially less hated than the TSA (that recently started a fucking blog, with humor no less!), local brownstone band Professor Murder seems nevertheless to be buying into paranoid theories about their incidental relationship to the SoCa scene. We at TMYLM are never ones to shy away from controversies, and since we’d rather devote our love to Professor Murder instead of blog whipping boys the NYPD, we’ll go ahead and post a little remix that just came our way… And to prove that PM may or may not be so late on the bandwagon its like local positivist philolsopher gone wrong, compare it to the old Dutch Hex which kicked major fucking ass.

Oh for a time when cold gray Brooklyn meant enchantment and you walked into O’Connors and the warmth and the dirt sent a tingle. And you talked about the mayoral race and Sandy Endo and local politics because you half-way believed in it. Calexico covered Love, the Rhino Girl Groups box-set blared, and things were looking good. Now it’s huevos a la mexicana every weekend and pop-fuck-electro and (if you’re lucky) dancing at some bouncer-ridden club where you can’t bump into anyone for fear of rumpling their glitter.

Toni Basil - I’m 28

Calexico - Alone Again Or (live)

Hyper Crush - Candy Store

Cat Scratch - What Would Harley Do?
